What will a new garden cost? |
|
It’s impossible to give hard-and-fast rules for the cost of a new garden, because your property and requirements are unique, so every project will be different, depending on its size, scope and complexity.
However, a good rule of thumb for complete redevelopment would be 5-10% of the value of your property. Alternatively, consider how much you would spend to have a new bathroom or kitchen in the house. Outdoor spaces, for many properties, will cost a comparable amount, and, similarly, will vary according to how much preparation work there is to be done, and how elaborate your requirements are. Budgets can be discussed at the initial consultation, and a rough idea given as to what can be expected for a particular sum.
Design fees will typically vary from around 5% to 20% of the project cost depending on which of the services you require. A fee for each stage of the design will be agreed with you prior to any work being undertaken. The initial consultation, which typically takes 45-60 minutes, is free and is without any obligation.
The survey, detailed drawings and specifications must be prepared before a contractor can give a firm quotation for the execution of the work. Steve can help in finding a suitable contractor, and can also be available for advice or inspection visits during the construction work.
